Amber is a PE Teacher at a local high school where she is also the Varsity Girls Assistant basketball Coach and Jaleesa is a Registered Medical Assistant and currently in school pursuing her RN degree. They first met when they were younger singing in their county-wide community choir. As fate would have it they met again as adults, when Jaleesa attended a youth event Amber was hosting through her non-profit organisation, Operation Impact. The couple chose Images by Amber Robinson assisted by Kate Lynn Imagery to capture their fun colour filled engagement and told us all about it below.
What was your first date like?
Our first date was to a panel discussion on Race Relations! Literally two days after we started talking via Facebook, Amber asked me to attend this discussion in Greenville, SC.
Tell us all about the proposal.
I bought the ring in May 2017 which was technically only 4 months after we were officially exclusive. I knew I would get some raised eyebrows so I told my family that even though I bought the ring, I wasn't going to propose until the end of November which would be a year of being exclusive. I knew I couldn't hold out and I knew I didn't want to. So, I planned the proposal during my birthday weekend (July 2018) when her focus would be on me and she believed my focus on me as well. I planned a "birthday" photo session for me which really was a surprise proposal session. The proposal was at Botanical Gardens in Clemson and a few of our closest family members were there to witness - AA
What are your favourite things to do together?
Anything involving food is our favourite thing! lol We enjoy singing and putting on concerts, watching sports, and spending time with our families.
Do you have everything in common or do you have things that you can't agree on but poke fun about?
We do not agree on what time of day to function. Jaleesa is not a morning person and I usually cannot sleep past 6:30am. I like to be on-time for everything but Jaleesa does not care.
What is your "spark"? What keeps you in love with each other?
Our laughter is the spark that keeps up lit up! Reciprocating selfless and genuine love is what keeps us in love. We are completely aware of each other as partners and we celebrate authenticity, which keeps our love in motion.
What is the most anticipated part of your wedding celebrations?
Amber is anticipating eating the wedding cake and I am anticipating our first dance and our vows because they will be true to feelings in that moment (Jaleesa isn't writing vows).
