Kristen and Jay

I am in the office today, convincing myself that someone has figured out how to steal time, I find myself perpetually perplexed, scratching my head wondering where the heck the week went! Due to this time stealing fiend, we missed bringing you the 'Fri-YAY Flashback' so instead, I would like to welcome you to 'Spotlight Saturday'.

The spotlight today is for Kristen and Jay Bosley, a lovely couple from Sydney, Australia who were featured in the Spring 2018 Edition of the Becoming One Magazine. Kristen and Jay were married in a destination elopement captured by one of our favourite photographers, Britany of The Light + The Love, surrounded by their nearest and dearest, in Las Vegas!

Meeting on a night out in Brisbane, through mutual friends the couple tell us they quickly fell in love. Kristen was in the middle of moving to Sydney an Jay said he wanted to move as well because she was leaving and what they had was too special to let go, and they have been together ever since.

We asked the couple about their proposal, Kristen tells us, "Sharing similar birthdays (only one day apart) we were out at our favourite restaurant when Jay caught me by surprise. Usually Jay is very quick to pay me a compliment but he had gone all not and not said anything so I asked him why he hadn't complimented me yet, thinking something was wrong and he responded with; 'you look beautiful, but, you're missing one thing' he carried me out onto the broadwalk where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Saying yes, I remember laughing at him and saying, so I guess, I was missing my engagement ring?"

Being an unconventional couple, eloping was the perfect choice for Kristen and Jay and funnily enough they tell us that they had both always dreamt of eloping in Las Vegas. Wanting to have their parents with them on the day, their elopement became a small intimate family elopement.

Kristen tell us that the day went perfectly, she describes it to be a feeling similar to waking up on Christmas morning when you're a child. Having her mum there to walk her down the aisle meant the world to Kristen and seeing the emotion on Jay's face as she walked into the chapel, immediately made her teary and is something that she says she will never forget.

The couples advice to other planning their weddings is to always research the companies you're using to avoid disappointments, and they strongly suggest that if you're planning a destination wedding to plan for jet lag by leaving yourself a few days between your arrival and the wedding to recover and feel the best on the day, but most of all trust in each other and do what is right for the both of you as a couple. We couldn't agree more with the couple, celebrating your love, your way is what your wedding should be all about and those that love you the most will understand your choices, support you and be thrilled!

We invite you to sit back and relax as you discover some serious talent and inspiration for your big day from Kristen and Jay's stunning destination elopement and don't forget to check out it's original feature in our Spring 2018 Edition of the Becoming One Magazine.
