Becoming Moody

Welcome to the second edition of Flashback Fridays, tonight we revisit the editorial session that captured our hearts and made the cover of our very first edition of the Becoming One Magazine. Captured by the talented Jason of Jason Le Weddings and set against the historic and dramatic background of Montsalvat in Eltham, this stunning editorial showed us that white doesn't mean you can't be just a little bit moody!

The teams choice of venue Montsalvat brings to life a slice of rustic medieval Europe, nestled in twelve acres of lush gardens and provides a story book background of endless potential for stunning photography. Montsalvat is the perfect venue from any style of wedding from intimate elopements to lively weddings with a seated reception available for up to 130 guests in the magnificent Great Hall or a cocktail style affair under the stars by the Ornamental Pool for up to 200 guests. Whatever your dream maybe we can assure you that you won't find anything else quite like this stunning venue.

The concept of the shoot drew directly from the moody tones that emanated from the historical buildings that spread across the property at Montsalvat, the team wanted to show that there was beauty to be found in the shadows and whispers of romance to be heard in gasps of delight as the darkness was unveiled.

Speaking with Lorelie from Studio B. Couture we learn that the vision and concept for the shoot was one that emerged as the team collaborated, "Being based in Brisbane, this editorial was our first destination project and it was an absolute delight to work closely with Jessica of Sassafras Flower Design and Kate from Good Day Rentals and our wonderful assistant Elysia Schultz to make this concept truly come alive.

Jess's vision for the table and overall floral design was of an indulgent feast from days gone by, with exotic sweet treats and luscious ripe fruits tumbling from bowls while brass urns spilt forth a plethora of delicate blooms. A combination of elements from all three of us saw mix matched stoneware paired with crips moss coloured linen, while gold shimmering sequins glistened in the sunlight underneath pools of flocked velvet chiffon. The addition of Kate's stunning antique high backed and art deco velvet dining chairs in gorgeous shades of olive and moss green really took the table setting to the next level of amazing!" and we couldn't agree with Lorelie more, we absolutely love the way this editorial session mixes textures and creates a delicate look of opulence.

The teams stunning bride, Jessica was a picture of bridal elegance in a stunning three quarter sleeved ivory gown with an sheer illusion bodice with stunning floral lace detailing from the lovely Bella of Bella E La Bestia Bridal. Jessica's look was completed with flawless makeup created by the incredibly talented Sally from Sally Kuter Makeup Artistry and a stunning effortless and wild updo by the amazing Cassandra and her team at Mane Hair Boutique. Not to be outdone the dapper groom, Stephen rocked a modern look of black slacks, white dress shirt and fawn vest with black bow tie from Tarocash.

Stationery for the day was created by Brisbane Stationer Lorelie of Studio B. Couture who handcut the stunning invitation design, featuring a delicate rose pattern with an envelope of soft grey and a dark liner of luscious deep red roses. Speaking to her about the table stationery, we learn that each guests name was hand cut into the menu design a unique and signature feature of Studio B. Couture's designs that was created in an effort to be able to offer brides a more eco-friendly and sustainable option for their on the day paper goods, and we love the resulting unique and personalised look.

What can we say about the cake? This spectacular 5 tiered sugar creation of wonder was designed and each flower and flourish hand crafted by master cake artist Linet from Linets Beautiful Cakes. Featuring stunning gold inlays, and a bouquet of simply stunning sugar crafted flowers this impressive confection stole the our breaths and the show and we are confident it will do the same to you as you scroll through the stunning images.

Not often are we left in a position where we cannot name our favourite detail, but this amazing editorial has left us speechless, from the spectacular floral design to the setting, furniture and cake each element draws our attention back making it impossible for us to decide. So we invite you instead to sit back and relax as you enjoy the images from this incredible editorial session and tell us what your favourite detail is and don't forget to check out it's original feature in our Launch Edition of the Becoming One Magazine and follow the links to discover some serious talent and inspiration for your big day!
