Grace and Tyler

Grace and Tyler’s Wedding was filled with classically beautiful details, stunning white flowers, eucalyptus that gave off divine aromas and a gorgeous arbor of flowers that formed the perfect backdrop for the couple as they said their vows. Captured by Brandy Angel Photography, the thoughtful heartfelt details that Grace put together told the couples story perfectly. Read on to hear more about the couples day and their story.

Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?

I wanted my theme to be classic with a little antique! I wanted everything to be gentle and subtle! My colors were variations of gray, cream, and lavender.

Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?

Lanterns, handmade wooden items, and a lot of greenery! Very natural look.

What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?

We used a wide variety of greenery, thistle, and cream roses. My idea of wanting a little purple in the flowers came from my love of thistle and plants that grow in the wild. I wanted to keep everything simple and classic and it turned out just that way!

Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

We had an awesome wedding painter!! He painted the kiss from the ceremony the whole night. It was cool to watch the progress! Our guest book was cool as well, my dad cut a piece of pecan wood and my mom sanded it. I painted the letters on top so it was kind of a cool personal touch!

Let's talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

I wanted the boys to be simple with ties. A black suit has always looked so handsome to me! Tyler is go with the flow by nature so it was easy to choose the guys formal wear. As far as me and the bridesmaids, I wanted them to be in flowy gowns that flattered them all. My original idea was to have a detachable cape for them to wear for pictures and walking down the aisle. But while I was looking for dresses I found that azazie actually had dresses that already had capes attached to them! So it was a win win. For my dress I knew I wanted sleeves. I originally didn’t want a “ball gown” but I’m glad I chose that one because it made me feel like a princess!

How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

Tyler and I met at the country club we both worked at. I was a cart girl and he was the greenskeeper. One day he just came up to me and said “hey” and that’s all it took! We went on our first date on a couple of acres of his land, we listened to music and just hung out. I really got to know him well and we shared our first kiss. 1.5 years later he asked me marry him in the same exact spot we shared out first kiss! It was so romantic and simple. I’d never trade that moment for anything!

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The first look!! I was so nervous to show Tyler my dress and I was so nervous to see him as well! It was probably my favorite moment cause we were alone for the first time in a while. It was so sweet and cute when he turned around. All he could say was “wow I can’t look at you” and smiled and cried! I’ll always cherish that moment.

Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?

Definitely get a head start on planning. We took about a year to plan ours and sometimes I felt like “if I just had another month!!” The weeks before is when you start to worry about little stuff. But honestly I had to keep telling myself “no one will notice if something goes wrong!” My mom and my mother in law were huge helps while planning. So if you have people close to you that want to help ask them!! Also I’m most proud of myself for keeping calm the day of! Just make sure you don’t leave little things for the last minute because that’s when it really hurts! Just get it all done and keep a written planner!!
